FOCUS MISSION AND VALUES
MISSION STATEMENT
FOCUS Ministries provides hope for incarcerated and newly-released women through strategic programming inside correctional facilities and comprehensive support after incarceration. Our purpose is to empower women to break the generational cycles of addiction and incarceration so they can walk in the true freedom of Christ.
F.O.C.U.S. Values
Freedom in Christ. The primary motivation of all FOCUS Ministries’ efforts, both inside and outside the walls, is to share the Good News that women can find true freedom in Jesus Christ. FOCUS believes that women who surrender to the Lordship of Jesus are forgiven for the bad choices that led them to incarceration and are empowered to make better choices. A relationship with Jesus provides healing from the pain of yesterday, strength for today and hope for a brighter tomorrow.
Obedience to God. Generational cycles of addiction, incarceration, and abuse have led many women down a dark and dangerous path. The process of discipleship takes time but essentially points to obedience to God in all things. While implementing all evidence-based strategies possible, FOCUS trusts that sustainable life-change comes through the truths of scripture and one's surrender to those truths. FOCUS is willing to leverage all acceptable means of self-improvement available, couched within the context of scriptural understandings.
Collaboration with Others. The complexity of the issues FOCUS addresses and the population served calls for collaboration. FOCUS believes no one entity can solve the addiction, incarceration, felony reentry, mental health, and family restoration problems alone. Therefore, FOCUS seeks to find co-laborers in the cause in the local church and the community at large.
Uplifting and Empowering. FOCUS upholds the truth that women are fearfully and wonderfully made in the image of God. The programs at FOCUS empower women to see themselves as worthy of love and dignity while assisting them in overcoming challenges and reaching their God-given potential. FOCUS does not provide a sanctuary away from the rest of the world. Rather, FOCUS offers a helping hand to walk with women back into the world.
Serving with Excellence. Because we serve an excellent God, everything we do is worthy of doing with excellence. Excellence is not perfection but a striving to meet or exceed all clarified expectations with our Board of Directors, staff team, program participants, volunteers, donors, churches, and expert allies. This belief drives our focus on integrity, clear communication, strategic programming, intentional relationship-building and ongoing fundraising.
